Our very first fountain pen inks

You might know about our other ink product, Optimist Pigment Ink. Optimist is a waterproof shellac ink for drawing, painting, and illustrations, which we've offered in various forms since 2016.

This is something different: a water-thin, dye-based ink that's meant for your fountain pen (or your glass pen, or your Kakimori metal nib, or your vintage dip pen...) It flows freely through fine pen mechanisms and washes out cleanly with our Universal Pen Cleaner. You can fill any brand of converter or empty cartridge, and you can use this ink with empty felt-tip pens.

A trio of colors for early adopters

This Beta Test Kit contains 40 mL jars of the first three colors we've developed for fountain pens: Volcanic Blue, Burnt Sienna, and August Orange. The hands-down favorite around our office is Volcanic Blue, which is a very deep cyan color that shades to dark navy. With enough ink on fountain-pen-friendly paper, Volcanic Blue also exhibits a stunning red sheen. We got the highest sheen by using a dip pen. Check out our example photos to see how it looks.

Burnt Sienna is a sophisticated brown for writing and drawing. It's really fun to use because the wet ink is bright crimson — the earthy brown color only develops as the ink dries. With heavy applications, a slight green sheen is visible at the edges.

August Orange is a classic, bright orange with lovely transparency. Unlike other oranges we've tried in fountain pen ink, our August Orange is saturated and legible, even in a fine pen.

Also included in this highly limited-edition kit: two ink syringes for filling empty converters or transferring ink into other containers; 20 strips of high-quality drawing paper for testing (2" x 6"); and a four-ounce bottle of our Universal Pen Cleaner.
